We designed this piece using the concept of "knitting in the round." A technique used to create tubular forms. We applied that same philosophy here, but with a digital twist. We programmed our tools to move in a perfect, never-ending spiral, spinning a single continuous strand of material into a soft, circular loop.
Because there are no corners to break the flow, the texture is hypnotic. The layers stack effortlessly on top of one another, creating a rhythmic, rippled surface that draws the eye toward the center. It looks less like a manufactured object and more like a coil of spun wool, frozen in time.
The beauty of ORBIT is its infinity. There is no beginning and no end to the pattern, just a continuous embrace of texture. When illuminated, it doesn't just sit in the room, it hovers. A warm, glowing cycle of digitally woven light.
In Bone, the spiral is the thing you keep staring at, nothing gets in the way of the form.
